Upstream Tech and CTrees have partnered to expand access to high-quality forest data, making it easier for organizations to monitor and understand forested landscapes.
Upstream Tech, the company behind Lens, provides a platform for monitoring land and water using satellite imagery and analytics. CTrees is a nonprofit advancing the science of forest carbon and remote sensing, with a focus on producing rigorous, high-resolution datasets for forest monitoring. Together, their expertise supports applications ranging from carbon accounting and conservation planning to utility vegetation management and land stewardship.

As part of this collaboration, CTrees’ data is being integrated into Lens, starting with 60 cm canopy height data for the United States. Now available directly in the platform, this initial release enables users to explore detailed forest structure alongside high-resolution imagery and analytics, all in one place.
With CTrees data available in Lens, users gain:
"We've long admired CTrees’ leadership in the remote sensing space, and we’re excited to officially bring their expertise to our users. By combining CTrees' data with Lens, we’re expanding what’s possible for teams working to understand and manage forests." — Eve Boyce-Ratliff, Director of Growth, Upstream Tech
"We're excited to work with Upstream Tech to make CTrees' data available to organizations implementing nature-based solutions. Lens makes it easy for any user, from practicing foresters to community stewards, to analyze forest attributes using high-fidelity data. With CTrees' unique canopy height data, users can better understand how ecosystems are structured, contributing to better outcomes for carbon management, landscape restoration, and risk management." — Chris Woodall, CTrees' director of U.S. forest science and policy.
This partnership reflects a shared commitment between Upstream Tech and CTrees to make high-quality environmental data more accessible and actionable. By bringing advanced forest structure data into an intuitive monitoring platform, the collaboration helps organizations move faster from insight to action.
