A new generation of streamflow forecasts are producing more accurate and actionable inflow predictions that water managers are using to optimize their assets. Interested to learn how these forecasts work and see them in action? Join us on a virtual visit to Idaho’s North Fork Clearwater River watershed, bounded by the Dworshak dam. We introduce Upstream Tech’s HydroForecast, our machine learning-guided streamflow forecasting approach, then show a demo of its forecasts in the basin and reflect on HydroForecast’s performance during the critical freshet season. We demonstrate how HydroForecast combines near real-time satellite data, weather forecasts, in situ observations, and machine learning algorithms to produce highly accurate and easy-to-use forecasts for hydropower operators and trading teams.
