Case study: Early warning and accurate peak flow predictions during historic atmospheric rivers

The December 2025 historic flooding in the Pacific Northwest (PNW) tested every aspect of water management operations. HydroForecast gave operators across the PNW up to 10 days of advance warning before peak flows arrived—4 days earlier and 75% more accurate than traditional models.

Webinar recording: Snow data and forecasting challenges

We recently met with leading Western U.S. water organizations to discuss how snowpack data is collected, used, and integrated into spring runoff forecasting workflows. HydroForecast team members Dr. Laura Read, Head of Product Strategy, and Alex Truby, Solutions Engineer, will be joined by Benjamin Barker (Placer County Water Agency - PCWA) and Taylor Winchell (Denver Water). What's new in HydroForecast

Enhanced forecast alerts & notifications

HydroForecast supports customizable threshold alerts on flow and water level forecasts. Users can set alert thresholds that display visually on charts and trigger automatic email notifications when forecasts exceed defined limits — helping teams stay ahead of critical events like snowmelt season.

Expanded forecasting coverage across the West

HydroForecast can ingest and display River Forecasting Center (RFC) forecasts at hundreds of locations, with increased coverage across the Colorado River Basin. This integration gives users greater near-term visibility into future flow conditions — and when multiple forecasts align, it provides significantly greater confidence in expected outcomes.
