T is a Software Engineer at Upstream Tech focusing on data processing for the Lens team. They previously led a team of engineers and data scientists at the Columbia Journalism School’s Brown Institute, building open-source tools for local news rooms. Prior to that, they spent five years at BuzzFeed, working on internal workflow tools and data applications. T has presented or facilitated workshops at NICAR, Computation + Journalism, and the News Product Alliance. In a previous career, they worked as a sommelier with a focus on natural Italian wines. T holds a BA in Cultural Anthropology from Columbia University. They live in Brooklyn where you can find them playing tennis at the local courts or spending time with community at the queer beach.
