Simon is a Machine Learning Engineer at Upstream Tech focusing on developing and improving models for forecasting river discharge. Prior to joining the Upstream Tech team, Simon worked with the U.S. Geological Survey developing methods to incorporate physical principles into deep learning models for water resources. Simon received his PhD in Remote Sensing and Hydrology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is based in Carrboro, NC, where he can be found tending to his tomato plants and riding bikes with friends.
